Description
An introductory course designed for non-science/engineering majors that focuses on the central role of chemistry in the study and mitigation of weapons of mass destruction. Students utilize scientific principles to explore the general dangers of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons, the history of their use and the chemistry behind how they affect human health. Emphasis is on the chemical structure-function relationship of bioactive substances, participation in classroom discussions on their historical use and identifying appropriate forms of personal protective equipment and decontamination. 3 Lecture hours. Credit cannot be earned in both CH 199 and CH 115. Goal 4. Offered: Spring.
