Emergency Management

Description

Students will learn how emergency managers respond to national, state or local disasters. Students will also gain a broad understanding of the functions, challenges, key concepts and organizing principles of U.S. emergency management. Through the analysis of the emergency management structure and organization, students explore and evaluate the National Response Framework, the National Incident Management System, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Incident Command System as well as other standards that govern emergency management in the United States. Credit will be earned once for CJ 300 and CJ 327. Prerequisite: CJ 101, Grade of C or higher or Permission of Instructor. Offered: Spring.
