Media Technology & Culture

Description

Are smart phones destroying relationships? Do music and movie streaming services make us lonelier? Is the internet making us stupid? this course interrogates how mass media and technology dynamically influences individuals, societies, and cultures over the millennia. Mass media has indisputable benefits, however, this class challenges students to understand the way it threatens our well-being and culture. If taken previously as a topics course or as CM 109, Introduction to Mass Media, no credit can be received. Offered: Fall, Spring.
