Literature of the Sea

Description

A study of literature about life at sea, especially during times of crisis. The course examines attitudes toward solitude, comradeship and the ocean's beauty and power. Moral and physical qualities needed by a ship's officers and crew are also discussed. Readings are drawn from world literatures, ancient and modern. A recommended literature course for fulfillment of General Education or Bachelor of Arts degree requirements in literature, Arts and Humanities.
