Description
This course explores topics of socio-historical, literary, or contemporary interest specific to Latinas/os in the United States through the reading of a variety of literary texts. Students will read, analyze, and discuss literature from the 19th through the 21st centuries to garner a better understand of Latina/o identity, to explore cultural themes and historical issues that have shaped the United States-based Latina/o community and to examine how literature reflects everyday life. Students will read a representative selection of major literary works from a time period selected by the instructor. Courses numbered SP366 Topics in Latina/o Literature may be repeated for credit up to four times, when offered as different topics. 3 lecture hours. Taught in Spanish. Prerequisite: SP301 or NU Placement Test score of 535 or higher.
