Berlin Making the Modern City

Description

This course uses the physical spaces, architecture, monuments, and museums of Berlin to explore the history, politics, sociology, and culture of the city. It is designed as an “excursion” class: students prepare with shared readings, then go out into the city to experience these places in person. Students become familiar with parts of the city and comfortable with urban environments while they discover the essential and unique cultural, historical, and political aspects of life in modern Berlin. A student with credit in HI 361 or FA 250: Making the Modern City cannot also earn credit for INTD 303.
