Program Description

Accounting professionals are valued members of the leadership team of business and nonprofit organizations. The Master of Accounting (MAC) program emphasizes the acquisition and application of technical knowledge to assist managers in making informed decisions. Students will complete a core curriculum in financial and cost/managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, information systems and professional ethics. Upon completion of the core, students can choose a general concentration or one in forensic accounting. The program offers pathways to an array of certifications including the CPA, CMA, CFE, and CGFM.
Students with undergraduate degrees in accounting or other closely related fields can be admitted in the MAC program with Advanced Standing. Students with Advanced Standing are required to complete no more than 30 credit hours. Students without undergraduate degrees in accounting or other closely related field may be required to complete additional foundation courses.
Graduates of the MAC program are prepared for careers in public accounting, Corporate America and governmental and not-for-profit organizations.

The Master of Accounting program is a specialized graduate-level business program focused on preparing graduates for successful careers in accounting, business, and nonprofits.
Additional Program Information
Students in the Master of Accounting program will enhance their understanding of, and ability to apply, concepts of accounting practice and theory. Students will evaluate complex accounting and business problems from various organizational perspectives. The MAC program enhances the knowledge and skills obtained in an undergraduate accounting program. The curriculum is designed to help fulfill the 150-hour requirement for students interested in sitting for the Uniform CPA examination.
Admission Criteria
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, or an equivalent degree from a foreign institution, as evaluated by WES, IERF, SpanTran, or CED.
Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher
If English is not your first language, proof of English language proficiency is required. This can be demonstrated in one of three ways:
All eligibility requirements are expected to be met unless noted in specific articulation agreements or memoranda of understanding (MOUs).
Up to 12-semester graduate credits for study conducted elsewhere may be awarded. Norwich complies with VA regulations and guidelines as it pertains to transfer credits.
For applicants that do not have hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, Norwich offers preparatory courses that are designed to prepare students for the Master of Accounting coursework. Preparatory courses available include finance, economics, and statistics. Students must satisfactorily pass the preparatory course(s) in order to be admitted into the accounting degree program. Preparatory courses do not satisfy degree requirements.
Advanced Standing Track
The Advanced Standing Track is designed for career enhancers who hold an undergraduate degree in accounting, or who have professional experience within accounting, are eligible for advanced standing status.
