Program Description

The U.S. Constitutional Studies concentration is designed to deepen students' understanding of the U.S. Constitution and its importance in American democracy and governance. This concentration is tailored for individuals who aspire to enhance their knowledge of American constitutional principles.

Through rigorous coursework and guided inquiry, students comprehensively understand the U.S. Constitution and its significance in shaping American democracy. Upon completion, the U.S. Constitutional Studies concentration will be listed on the official transcript, demonstrating their expertise in this fundamental area of American law and governance.

Goals of the concentration:

Goal 1: Analyze the historical context and philosophical underpinnings of the U.S. Constitution.

Goal 2: Evaluate the impact of the U.S. Constitution on American society and governance.

Goal 3: Apply constitutional principles to contemporary legal and political issues.

Goal 4: Critically evaluate competing interpretations of constitutional law and theory.
